Living Clocked-In For Christ!

Jon Burgess

Scripture

“The servant who knows the masterʼs will and does not get ready or does not do what the master wants will be beaten with many blows. But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.” Luke‬ ‭12:47-48‬

Observation

This scripture comes off really harsh if not read in context. Even in context its very obvious Jesus is making a point he doesn't want His disciples to miss. In the context of the fear of God and readiness for Christ's return there's no room for excuses. Jesus uses an example everyone will understand. If you are an employee getting paid by an employer and you are sleeping on the job there will be severe consequences. If you're clocked in then you have a job to do until you're clocked out. This is true in the natural world, how much more so in the supernatural reality we have been called to?

Application

How am I stewarding the "much" that I have been given? As a Christ follower I'm clocked in through grace until I clock out from this place. As a disciple I have the privilege of representing Christ everywhere I go in everything I do. I have been entrusted with the precious treasure of salvation and it's my job to show people how to find it through Christ! On top of that I've also been given the best occupation ever! I get paid by God through His people to share Gods Word and equip the saints for the work of the ministry in the world around them. On top of that I get to work under one of the most influential communicators and apostolic leaders in the Body of Christ at large with Pastor Wayne Cordeiro. On top of that I get to pastor one of the largest most influential churches on the Hawaiian islands at New Hope Oahu. Much has been given to me so much will be required of me. So, how can I possibly carry out my calling? How can I live clocked in for Christ? Jesus tells me? Fear Him more then any man. Live in the expectation that Jesus is returning at any time.

Prayer

Thank You Lord the poignant reminder this morning of how much I've been given. I humble myself before You this morning and ask for Your strength to carry out what You've called me to. As a wayward son You brought me home. You have made me a disciple and called me to make disciples. As an undershepherd of Your Church I pray for Your Words that bring life given at the right time! May I never take for granted the privilege You've given me! Awaken any place in me where I've been sleeping through what You've called me to!
