I Missed That
Doug Buhr“When he knocked at the door of the gate, a servant-girl named Rhoda came to answer. When she recognized Peter's voice, because of her joy she did not open the gate, but ran in and announced that Peter was standing in front of the gate. They said to her, "You are out of your mind!" But she kept insisting that it was so. They kept saying, "It is his angel." But Peter continued knocking; and when they had opened the door, they saw him and were amazed.”
Acts 12:13-16 NASB
The Church was fervently praying for Peter to be released from prison. Their prayers were answered when an angel went into the prison and led Peter out. When Peter showed up at the house where they were praying, however, they insisted that it could not be him. They were praying, but they did not really believe that their prayers would be answered; at least not in the physical release of Peter.
How often do I pray for something and then totally miss the answer? Sometimes I am looking for a particular answer and I miss the obvious. Peter was physically standing outside the gate and the people were insisting it was his angel. I wonder how many times the answer to my prayer is right in front of my nose and I miss it because I’m looking for another answer?
Lord I pray today that I would have the faith to believe that my prayers will be answered. I pray that I would see the answers even when they are different from the answer I am expecting.
In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
