Spiritual Feeding: Give Food Away!
Rod ShimabukuroJesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work. John 4:34
In the middle of sharing life with the Samaritan woman, who was an outcast in the Jews eyes, Jesus has a teachable moment with His disciples. They had gone to get food, while Jesus had a divine moment with this woman at a well. When they came back, finding Jesus talking to this outcast, they questioned him and proceeded to offer Him food. John mentions earlier that Jesus was wearied from His journey, implying the need for drink and food. But Jesus tells them He has a food stash they don’t know about :)
Jesus food was sharing spiritual food/drink with others. The context shows Jesus instructing the disciples about the harvest - the spiritual one, not a physical one. Interesting...His food involves doing the will of HIs Father which is giving away spiritual food.
My spiritual nourishment is giving away food. My food is to do God’s will. God’s will in this text is giving away the spiritual message to the harvest of souls who are lacking true spiritual drink.
I desire to feed the hungry - the spiritually starving and malnourished, who lack the truth of the Best Meal in eternity. In fact its the meal that will give them life forever.
I think God will also use, call me to share food with others, when I’m tired, hungry, worn out...from my journey.
Lord - You are building me up to be stronger, more confident and bold to share Your food with others. May I be like You Jesus - to do the will of my Daddie Father and to accomplish His work! Help me to be sensitive to share Your Food, even when I myself I’m depleted and in need.
