Communicating as a Leader
Richard WaialealeEphesians 4:29 (NLT)
29 Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.
In the dark places of my life, I have used foul or abusive language that can be taken as offensive. Sometimes I think no one sees, like when I’m driving or a secluded place outside of church - but God sees. This can bleed into my leadership at church and people can be offended by my behavior and the office I hold as a leader in the church. The Bible is speaking to me today to clean up this area of my life before I get too comfortable with the use of foul language. There is no place in leadership and it grieves the Holy Spirit.
I’m not sure why I still have some residue of this in my life, or why I have allowed this to take residence in me, but it’s time to clean the rest of this rubbish out from myself. Be intentional and mindful about removing this from the way I communicate even it’s in the dark. I don’t want this traveling into the light so take care of this immediately. Pray often and forgive one another as the Bible says, because God forgave me.
Lord forgive me for using this kind of language that doesn’t edify anyone. “Let no corrupt word proceed out of my mouth,” in Jesus Name I Pray these things.
