Learning To Build Up

Calvin Kochi

Scripture

Romans 15: 1-2

We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. 2Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up

Observation

Here we find Paul’s encouragement to those who are stronger or more mature in their faith. Paul challenges us to bear with each other and to help and support those who weaker or struggling Because of situation that maybe hindering their faith. As Christians we can tend to look down on those who are struggling and weaker in their faith. Instead we should be helping and supporting them so that they can be built up and judged and condemned

Application

Sometimes I find myself more focus on the weakness of others that causes me to be frustrated and judgmental of them. My expectation of them hinders my responses to them. Paul places a great challenge to me. We should not only bear with the shortcomings and failure of other but to build them up. What that means to me is to love, encourage and to support them. It is so much easier to love the lovable people and easier to avoid those that are challenging to you. It easier to knock down that it is to build up others who are difficult. I believe that the best part of why we do our daily devotions is for this exact reason to challenge us to live out what the Lord is asking us to do. It is to put my faith into action

Prayer

Thank for reminding me that faith is challenged to actions. Help me to see others as you see them to love encourage, and to support them.
