Discipleship at it's Best
Marsha KochiJohn 17:6-8
6 “I have manifested Your name to the men whom You gave Me out of the world; they were Yours and You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word. 7 Now they have come to know that everything You have given Me is from You; 8 for the words which You gave Me I have given to them; and they received them and truly understood that I came forth from You, and they believed that You sent Me.
Jesus commits the Disciples to the Father as He prays. The Disciples kept God's word in the way they lived, and knew that God, is the only true God. They understood with confidence, the connection that Jesus has with the Father; that everything that Jesus has done, everything that He said comes from the Father.
As I read these scriptures, I am reminded of what true discipleship is. Jesus loved God, and it brought Him great joy to glorify Him. Even as Jesus speaks of the Disciples, He exhibits grace. Though the disciples had their share of problems as we do, He doesn't judge them, instead He speaks well of their receiving the truth. I understand that as a leader, I need to continue to be mentored by the Word, that it be deeply seeded within me, taking root in my heart. I desire to be a leader that can see the best in all people. To love with the kind of heart that Jesus has. Regardless of all that was against Him, and all that He endured, He continues to love.
Father, thank You for Your Wisdom and for Your grace. Guide me in being a leader that intentionally chooses to walk close to You.
