May My Light Shine
John Tilton
Scripture
Luke 8:16-17
“No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.
Observation
Yes indeed, for a light to emanate its lumens of light, it must be put up on a stand so that it will have the vantage point of disseminating light. Covering it up would seem senseless, knowing that it must be uncovered and prominently place in order to be effective. Furthermore, in our lives, God will assure that what is meant to be seen will be seen.
Application
I am reminded that in order for me to shine the light of who Jesus is in me, my heart and life must be an open book when it comes to how I example my obedience to God, my following His will and my love for others. I know that my “position” must be of what I am confident to be prominent, rather then hiding anything for fear of my life not living of to God’s expectations. I also know that my ability to example a prominence of good light in my heart, character and love, begins with my time and in devotions with him, for it is there that the source of my shining light truly emanates.
Prayer
Dear Lord, may I live a life that I am not ashamed to let shine before men.
