Are we in the last days?
Rod ShimabukuroRevelation 1:2who testifies to everything he saw—that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. 3Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.
John is testifying of everything Jesus reveals, through what God has shown Him (v1). The primary focus of Revelation is Jesus. At the top of this letter, John makes this known - this letter is about Jesus - HIs testimony and the word of God. The recipients are blessed who read it and take this prophetic vision and teaching to heart. Why? The time is near.
Since John’s day... the last days is near. I seriously thought when I received Jesus in 1981, that I wouldn’t see (maybe)...35 years old. I was 19 at the time. The things I heard from the pulpit, prophecy in church, tv evangelists - I thought for sure Jesus was coming back before I was married, let alone have any kids! 30 years of marriage and 3 grown kids later...here we are... in the last days - the time is near.
Are we in the last days? According to John we are - yet 2000 years plus later, God is still on His throne, victorious with Jesus by HIs side and the Holy Spirit drawing His creation to Himself. Yet John, encourages me to focus on Jesus, not the “last days.” Blessed are those who hear and take to heart the prophetic writings about Jesus - not focus on the “time is near” or the “last days.”
So today, help me Lord...to continue fixing my heart and life on You. Help me to testify of You, in these last days -or in my last days! May I take to serious and reverent heart, Your words, to love and live for You!
