Missing the Mark
Marsha KochiLuke 16:
14 The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these things, and they ridiculed him. 15 And he said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.
The Pharisees did things with selfish hearts and ambitions. They went through the motions of being righteous and holy, but they were far from knowing God. The things that the Pharisees held in high value were detestable to God. They misinterpreted Jesus, and His teachings.
I may be occupied with my pastoral duties, caught up in the tasks that are around the office, and overlook the very things that He is showing me. We can seem very religious, even look like saints, but miss the mark which defines the assignment that He has called us to.
Lord, thank You for The Holy Spirit who guides me, and who keeps me aligned. Keep me focused on You, and the right assignment. Help me to lead others with the right heart and let me never forget the call that You have placed upon my life.
