A Set Apart Heart

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture

Then Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the LORD has said: ‘Among those who are near me I will be sanctified, and before all the people I will be glorified.’” And Aaron held his peace. Leviticus 10:3

Observation

Nadab and Abihu, Aarons sons who were priests, offered strange fire before the Lord were executed. God had no mercy on them for not obeying something of the “offering unto God.” Or maybe His mercy was fulfilled in this tragic outcome by God sparing more people’s lives in the future? Something about Nadab and Abihu’s offering was not right and God took their lives. Of course God knew the hearts of these 2 sons but obeying God specifically and precisely is expected.

Application

I feel God speaking to me about my heart - setting God apart from the worldly, selfish desires in me. I desire to glorify God in my inner man - in my desires - my motives. But the truth is that I fight my flesh - the sinful part of me that wants my way - a way that is NOT set apart to God neither will glorify Him. I desire to see, know God’s holiness. He is to be feared and loved. Glorified through my set apart heart.

But how do I consecrate my heart?

  • Continue to repent when I deal with any inner thought, motive of sin - receiving His forgiveness, love.
  • Fill my heart and mind with His Word.
  • Pray in the Spirit.
  • Worship with a song of the Lord.

Prayer

Dear Spirit of God.
Thank you for setting me apart - always being so good, so right about conviction me of any uncleanness! Thank you for leading me to Jesus, to repentance and a revelation of God’s holiness. Thak you for setting my heart apart from worldliness to godliness.
