Don’t live in Neutral Rod
Rod Shimabukuro20 So Moses said to them, “If you will do this, if you will take up arms to go before the Lord for the war, 21and every armed man of you will pass over the Jordan before the Lord, until he has driven out his enemies from before him 22and the land is subdued before the Lord; then after that you shall return and be free of obligation to the Lord and to Israel, and this land shall be your possession before the Lord. 23But if you will not do so, behold, you have sinned against the Lord, and be sure your sin will find you out. Numbers 32
God was specific in HIs instructions to Moses and the people of Israel - involving their journey through the wilderness. The Promise land was not merely the goal - it was the process of listening, responding in obedience to God along the way. The process involved attitudes and the development of the people’s character: how they did or didn’t receive or respect their leaders leadership (Moses). How they either grumbled and complained or complied with God through Moses and Aaron.
I’m reminded of this passage involving the danger of sin. Especially hidden, buried sin in my life.
MESSAGE: Gen. 4:6 GOD spoke to Cain: “Why this tantrum? Why the sulking? 7 If you do well, won’t you be accepted? And if you don’t do well, sin is lying in wait for you, ready to pounce; it’s out to get you, you’ve got to master it.”
One part of the lesson and command of God for me today is - Don’t SETTLE IN to live “comfortably.” There are still battles to be fought, territory to be gained... in relationship to not being complacent in my approach and attitude towards my calling as a Pastoral Leader. I can’t disciple “everyone” but I must not be overwhelmed or grow weary - and settle for less than God is stirring me to do.. and to be. I must not LIVE IN NEUTRAL!
Part of my BEING requires time, Scripture memory/meditation. Studying the Scriptures... and not to become a better teacher - but to KNOW GOD, more personally, more intimately - that I may lead, shepherd and disciple others in the way God leads me.
Help me to Obey You - to Trust You! I don’t want any sin, in my heart to be buried - to go underground where it begins finding me out and pounces on my life - thus affecting and destroying others lives! O GOD - once again...have mercy on me! I love You Jesus!! I need You... all the time, every day - every second!
