Choose Grace!
Carl HigashiGalatians 5:4-6
4 You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. 5 For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope. 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.
Paul in his letter to the Galatians speaks of Christ's salvation as a free gift of God's grace. In this particular scene where circumcision was one of the requirements under the mosaic law to show your faith in God, Paul reminds the Galatians tha their lawfulness will separate themselves from the grace of God and ultimately from the intimate relationship God intended to have with His people. When there is a lack of grace and an over emphasis on the law, sin will reign. For it was totally by the grace of God that He provided the one and only perfect sacrifice in Jesus Christ.
We will never ever need to do anything for that type of grace that has been poured out for us. It is only through the highest love that Jesus' faith was expressed. He expressed His faith and love by dying on the cross for us.
No other sacrifice will ever compare.
In this what have you done for me lately world, it is easy to be caught up in the doing and totally forget about the heart in which we get to do what we do. I really don't have to do anything for God, He has everything that He will ever need or desire. He is His own fulfillment and when my measure of success is found in the things I do or attain rather than just having a heart of gratefulness because of His grace, the Lord reminds me in that type of thinking His grace is nullified and I choose to be under the law like the Galatians!
Stop choosing slavery, say no perfomance, and entitlement mentality and instead be grateful the I am a chosen son of the Most High God!
Lord thank you for choosing me! I ask for your continued discernment to know what You would like me to do and what to say "No" to. Help me to choose grace and not to perform for my own glory, but in all the I get to do for your kingdom, may all the honor and glory go to you and you alone.
Love you Lord with all my heart. In Jesus' name I pray, amen!
