Where Are You Headed

Calvin Kochi

Scripture

26Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air; 27but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified 1 Corinthians 9:26-27

Observation

Paul teaches how important having a finish line is to running, and hitting the mark is in boxing. You can run in circles and never reach the finish line, and throw punch at air and never land a punch. You can preach to the choir and never be heard. But if you discipline yourself or train yourself for the sake of the Godliness you will not have to worry about being disqualified.

Application

You can get into a routine of doing things and end up running just because you its good for you. Or it is the right thing to do and benefits of doing it is obvious. However when you do thing with aim and purpose the difference is huge you serve the Lord in ways that are impactful to others. This verse reminds me thathow important it is to have vision; Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained, But happy is he who keeps the law. PROVERBS 29:18 I must run in ways and train in ways that keeps me focused and head to that finish line. I don't want to be disqualified at the end of the race.

Prayer

Thank for the lessons in training and reminding me the importance of vision and purpose. Help me to stay on track and to allow you Word to direct me.
