Developing an Overcoming Faith
Rod ShimabukuroFor everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world‹our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 1 John 5:4-5
It's faith - but not "our faith" that enables us to overcome. I don't acquire better position or relationship with Jesus, or receive better health or more wealth because of "my faith." It's not the "works" side of my faith that makes me overcome. As if I'm better by putting in human effort to believe more... convincing my human mind to believe just believe - think it - live towards it... positive thinking, believing and living?
But there is a faith born in me through Jesus, that moves me to live an overcoming life. It's through being born of God and believing that Jesus is the Son of God.
My heart and inner life is bursting with a knowing and growing faith. It's a faith not in being more positive or having to feel like indeed to work for more faith. It's my inner spirit growing stronger in knowing who Jesus and the Godhead is.
My application is simple. Keep acknowledging Jesus in everyday life throughout the day. Loving and thanking Him. Having a grateful and worshipful heart. Singing and speaking of the Scriptures. Keep exalting Jesus and study the Word.
Thank you Lord for opening my heart to Your Word. For giving me holy, spiritual desires to spend more time with You. Thank You for Your great love for me, Beckie, Kai, Koa, Malia. I love You King and Lord and Daddie and Spirit!!!
