Leading Well
Marsha KochiActs 20:25 “And now, behold, I know that all of you, among whom I went about preaching the kingdom, will no longer see my face. 26 Therefore, I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men. 27 For I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole purpose of God. 28 Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.
Paul is speaking to the elders, the pastors and leaders as he basically explains that he has done all that he can to share the Word and the Kingdom of God to the people. He has fulfilled and met the goal. He speaks with confidence as he has led, shared, served, mentored and preached with all that God has called him to. The responsibility of shepherding His flock should not be taken lightly. Paul's emphasis on the shed Blood of Jesus Christ explains the urgency of being right with God and ministering with truth love, and purpose.
I want to be a better leader, a better pastor. I know the importance of this privilege, and I don't want to just write or talk about it, but to be intentional in putting these words into action. I want to be obedient to the prompting of the Holy Spirit, not hesitate as He directs me. To remain focussed on the call, and not take anyone who He places in my life, for granted, nor do I want to lead them in the wrong way.
Thank You Lord for challenging me to be a shepherd that would be worthy of shepherding Your flock. Thank You for great men and women of God that love You, that I get to serve with. At the end of each day, help me to know that I have given to Your precious flock a Gem that You have imparted upon my heart. Let me be bold and truthful, not hold back a message that needs to be shared.
