Deeper Discernment & Delight
John TiltonPhilippians 1:9-11
And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.
The scriptures are so clear and succinct; as one goes deeper in knowledge of the Lord, one will gain insight, which in turn will result in discernment that we would lives better lives in purity, full of righteousness through Jesus Christ and therefore bringing glory and praise to God. It all begins with knowledge and depth in Jesus and the Word. Let us not forget that it doesn’t begin with our righteousness, as we are sinners; but rather knowledge in Him that we may gain righteousness through Him.
In my desire to live a life for Christ, my best intentions and desires are most probable beginning with my time with Jesus in devotions as I study His Word. What comes before words and actions, is the depth in Him and His Word, thereby unlocking and releasing insight, that gives understanding, and with understanding and pure heart that compels pure actions, and therefore a life filled with the fruit of righteousness that bring glory to Jesus.
Dear Lord, thank you for helping me with my priorities. May I begin my days with you first, to gain depth, knowledge and insight, that I may delight in your ways.
