New Hope Notes | ||

I am excited to be here and since 80 percent of you have not heard me speak face to face before, I would like to share my testimony as well as read from scripture today some of the verses that really helped me in my life. For those of you who don't know me, my name is NickVujicic and I was born without arms and legs. Jeremiah chapter 29 verse 11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” And I'm thinking I don't like this plan. I see everyone with arms and legs. So I’m asking God, “God, if you love everyone and you love me, then why did you give me less?” And since we know that the God we serve is the God of miracles, I prayed for a miracle. And Philippians 4, verse 6 and 7 says, “… with thanksgiving, present your request to God, and let the peace of God that transcends all understanding guide your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” It does say present your requests with Thanksgiving, and it's so hard to be thankful when you're in need and you're asking for something and especially when God doesn't say yes. Now, can God give me arms and legs? Yes. I've seen actually 12 blind people seeing, deaf people hearing, lame people walking, crooked backs come straight, skin diseases falling off bodies, people left for dead in a hospital bed jumping and leaping out of bed out of that hospital and the doctors are like, “What?!” In 24 hours he was totally fine. I've seen miracles. But I've prayed for about 400 people for a physical miracle that if God did it right there and then everyone would have known, and out of 400 prayers that we did, only 12 I've seen right there and then. Why me? Why was I born this way? Why doesn't God give me arms and legs? Well, He does have a plan, and sometimes we ask God, God, can I suggest a plan B, or C, or D? Sometimes when He is silent you feel like He's not listening so you hang up the phone. Some of you feel like He's never existed because you don't understand what plan He has. Now, sin, sickness, and disease are not from God. Satan, the serpent was in the Garden of Eden with the two people, Adam and Eve, who had no belly button. Jesus had a belly button, but Adam and Eve did not have a belly button. The people that had no belly button were in the Garden of Eden with God, in the presence of God, supposedly for ever and ever and ever, but God gave them free will, the same free will He gives us. When they disobeyed God, sin came into the world. Then everyone had a temporary life after they were born as human beings. The reason why God made human beings is for us to be with him forever, but our human nature took over. And now whatever broken pieces we have, whatever evil is done to us, whatever the enemy tried to use for bad, if you give your broken pieces to God, he can turn even the most broken pieces into something absolutely miraculous. And I couldn't see it. I couldn't do anything with my fear. Yeah, this looks like a terrible disability, but fear will disable you more than having no arms and no legs. 12.8 percent of teenagers in Hawaii have already attempted to commit suicide once. We all sometimes feel like it just gets a little bit too much, and I was no exception. And so here's the truth, and the truth will set you free. And who the son Jesus Christ sets free is free indeed. So the lies take you away from the truth, but that doesn't change the truth. Has the book moved or have I moved? Has God changed? No. Does God ever change? No. Is his word always true? Is it absolute truth? It's for anyone anywhere at any given time with any broken heart. That is the healing of Jesus. It is absolute truth. It is absolute hope. But I didn't believe in it, and that was my choice, my free will. But if this temporary life, the way we live does affect our eternal destiny in a place called heaven where there is no sickness, no disease, no evil, no devil, no demons, I want you to know that that's my focus. That's my hope. And no matter what happens to this body, I don't care. You can take my tongue out and take away my ministry; I'm still a child of God. God still loves me. God doesn't love me for what I do. God loves me because I'm his. You think He doesn't love you? In 2008 I went to the brothels in India. We spoke to 600 prostitutes who were mainly kidnapped at 10, all sold by their parents at 10 for $700. And I've seen hope. I have seen how some of those girls get out, they go to rehab, they go to church, and they earn money and they come back to pay off another girl's debt and bring them to Jesus. I've seen the most broken pieces on the planet in my opinion say, “I'm going to be a miracle for someone else because Jesus died for me. I'm going to live for him, and I'm going to let someone else know that he loves them too.” Moreover, he loves you not because of how good you are. At the end of the night God healed an old woman that was crippled for 5 years. It turned out that she was the one that started that block where there are now 150 brothels. Jesus died for all. Jesus reaches out to everyone, every one of your neighbors, every single one of your bosses too. By the greatness of God, the reason why I did not go through with the suicide at age 10 was because of my parents. They loved me. They encouraged me, and the last thing I wanted to do was leave them with pain. So I decided to stay not knowing what would come from my broken pieces. Man, do you think I would ever have met presidents? No. I felt like I had no place on this earth. I felt homeless. I felt like I had no worth. But, man, what you didn't see in that other clip is at the end I say, “Stop looking left, stop looking right, and just look up.” And I want you to know some of you we're looking for some circumstance to change. I see some of you teenagers who have lost all your hair, and you've got gray hair. You're still a teenager, you know that. You're 80 by your birth certificate, but you're still 18. You know it, and you are here for a reason. Go by the leading in your heart of the peace of God. Take one day at a time. It's not going to always be easy, but Jeremiah chapter 29 verse 12 says, “Then you will call upon me, come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart.” Amen? That's 12, 13, and the beginning of 14 says, “I will be found by you.”declares the Lord. And I gave my life to Jesus at 15 when I read John chapter 9, about a man that had been born blind. In the first three verses, Jesus was coming through a village, and He sees a man who was born blind and the people asked Jesus why was he born that way? Now the first time I saw a miracle was when a crooked back came up straight. She was like this for six years. We prayed in ten seconds. And I'm like, “Whoa!” Like, I know we just prayed for that, but that's amazing. And I'm like any time. I am ready. Into your hands I commit my spirit … He didn't do it. But what He did do was that He set me free. It's not about arms and legs. It's about peace. I'd rather have peace and purpose and forgiveness of my sins than arms and legs. If I don't die of cancer, I'll die of a plane crash. I've done 3 million miles around the world. 12 presidents, 7 congresses. Millions of people watching at a time on TV. Yahoo, CNN, and Fox picked it up. First evangelist to talk about heaven, miracles, and Jesus in Vietnam. 17 million. First time ever on national TV. I never knew that was coming, but guess who did? God. Did that surprise him? No. And as I was begging for arms and legs praying for a miracle, I realized He wanted to use me as a miracle. So at 15 I saw the blind man and Jesus put mud on his face. He didn’t flinch because he had faith in whatever Jesus would do. Unlike some of us, Jesus knocks on the door and you say, well, pry open the door, tell me what you're going to do, then I'll trust you. No, that's not faith. The blind man had faith. I had my eyes, but I was just as blind as the blind man because we both had no idea what Jesus was about to do, and that's when I realized my sin. That's when I realized my lack of faith. Jesus doesn't need to tell me what He wants me to do. I am just going to believe that He has something. Amen? I went to the highest security prisons, and I said, “Have you had people say that they'll do anything for you? Have you ever had someone there say I love you?” They said “yup”. Most of them were murderers. That's why they're in jail. I asked them, “Did anyone who loves you actually take your place in jail?” No. They laughed. You see, this is the awesome thing about Jesus. Because of sin, (Romans 6:23), the wages of sin is death. Do you know anyone who's perfect? No. Do you know anyone who is living forever on earth? No. Because those things go together. That's why Jesus was holy and He didn't have to die. He didn't have that fine, that crime of sin. And I can't pay the price of death for your sin because I have sin as well. But Jesus who had no sin died as the payment of death on the cross for my sins, and if I believe someone paid the price for my crime, then I didn't have to pay the price for my crime. And not to say that I'm now happy and I can do whatever I want. No. This is what happens. The lies take you away from the word of God and the truth. When kids were teasing me at school, I realize it's not just kids that are just trying to attack me. Its principalities and powers of darkness that are trying to tear our families apart and bring our nation down. And the chief of those dark principalities and powers of darkness is the devil himself. And when you know that, then you can simply say to the devil, “Devil, you can talk to the foot because the ears aren’t listening. And God gave me a foot so you can be my footstool. Get beneath me, Satan.” Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. “ And when you take one day at a time, one day at a time, you know you're not doing it alone. I want to say that I love you so much, and the reason why we are here is for you to come closer to Jesus. You can't change anyone's heart. You can't even change the habits you wish you could change. I was in front of a crowd, and I saw a man hold up a little boy. And the little boy had no arms and no legs, but he had a little foot, just like me. And everyone looked at this boy, and I saw me. Yeah. Like wow. I know this child is going to go through a lot. This child is going to go through bullying and teasing. This child is going to feel alone. And when I was ten, I just wished a limbless guy came to my school to talk about bullying because that really would have helped me a lot, but I didn't get that miracle. But two years ago I became that miracle for Daniel, and now he's the coolest kid in the school. I saw my mom hug his mom and my dad hug his dad, and they cried. And I could easily say that half of you have gone through something more difficult than I. I can't imagine losing my wife. If I had arms and legs and my wife died, I'd give up my arms and legs to have her back in my life. Being in a broken home, that's easily worse than having no arms and no legs. And Jesus is here, and He's not going to ask you when He sees you did you go to church or did you give money to the poor? He's simply going to know you, and you're going to know Him, if you knew Him. And if your name is written in the Book of Life, when I see God, He will say well done, my good and faithful servant. That's all I want. I just want to live for billions and billions of years without the devil around. What about you? Life is hard, but God is with you. If you reach out to Him, He's already reaching out to you. He'll take you out of that pit of depression. His grace is sufficient for you. In Second Corinthians chapter 12 verse 8 to 10, Apostle Paul says, “God, take this thorn from my side.” God says no, “My grace is sufficient.” Isaiah 40 verse 31 says, “Those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength. They shall mount up on wings like eagles.” You don't need money. You don't even need a home. You just need Jesus. And He'll provide everything you could ever need. Whatever it is, take it to the Lord in prayer. We're going to pray for miracles right now, and if physical and body miracles do not happen today, that's all in God's hands. The greatest miracle of all is knowing that you're never going to die, and that's the beginning of your understanding of how much Jesus loves you and how much hope and future is ahead.
1. When it seems as if God does not answer your prayers right away how do you feel? 2. Why does God love the bad as well as the good people? 3. Why would being in a broken home be worse than having no arms and no legs? 4. What happens to a child when he or she is the victim of bullying in school? 5. If you see someone bullying someone what can you do to help?
