God Wants Us Here!

Jon Burgess

Scripture
“You are worthy, O Lord our God,
to receive glory and honor and power.
For you created all things,
and they exist because you created what you pleased.”

Revelation 11:4

Observation

God wants us! The Message paraphrase brings this out: "Worthy, O Master! Yes, our God! Take the glory! the honor! the power! You created it all; It was created because you wanted it." We speak things accidentally and can't get the words back after the mess they create. God spoke us into being on purpose and didn't regret it for a minute. In fact, the creation story tells us that God looked at everything that exists created by His will and said: "it is good." It's only after creating man and woman that He saw what He made and said this is "very good". In fact, He took the seventh day off just so He could spend more time with Adam and Eve. This is not the picture of a God regretting us or just putting up with us, but created us to be with us!

Application

This may surprise some to hear this, but I don’t think it’s an accident or a coincidence that we are here! This was no Big Bang explosive accident, but rather a Big God with a Big Heart that just wants to be with us! Whether we live on the Hawaiian Islands somewhere else around this globe I believe Jesus wants us to know one thing: We were made on purpose, for a purpose, and with a purpose. When we stop believing the lie that we are just passing through, just surviving, just left to figure this out on our own then we are awakened to our true purpose. Relationship With God through Jesus Christ empowered by The Holy Spirit. He spoke us into being on the sixth day so He could speak to our being every single day of our lives. When I realized that God actually wanted to be with me guess what happened, I wanted to be with Him! When I spend time with Him in His Word and talking through the crazy things that happen in this life He continues to clarify His purpose for my existence. The Westminster Shorter Catechism sums up our purpose this way: "Man’s chief end is to glorifyGod, and toenjoyhimforever." To then know that God actually enjoys being with me too makes me want to glorify Him all the more with my life!

Prayer

Jesus, You really do want me here! You made me to be right here, right now with You. You don't look at me and shake Your head in disgust even with all my mistakes and sins. You look at me and call me closer to yourself to teach me how to live above the mistakes and sins through a relationship with You!
