Say Only What The Holy Spirit Tells You

Richard Waialeale

Scripture

Mark 13:11 (NLT)

11 But when you are arrested and stand trial, don’t worry in advance about what to say. Just say what God tells you at that time, for it is not you who will be speaking, but the Holy Spirit.

Observation

There are other scriptures in the Bible (Acts 4:8 and Luke 12:11-12) that says, “When you are brought before synagogues, rulers and authorities, do not worry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say.”

I see this as an opportunity to evangelize the message of the Gospels. I can either see this as for suffering or as an opportunity to allow the Holy Spirit to do the teaching and leading. Jesus is revealed when the Holy Spirit is at work.

Application

Whenever I’m about to speak to a group, crowd or the congregation - pray that the Holy Spirit fills me, speaks through me and infects the people that we are listening to me - and that they only see and hear Jesus. I must pray that I would be lead by the Holy Spirit and the people would be filled with the Spirit and that I fulfill what scriptures says, only that I point the people to Jesus. I admit the need of the Holy Spirit.

Prayer

Lord I pray, I cannot do this without Jesus, and He gives me the Holy Spirit as the counselor and guide. Lord thank you for filling us with the Spirit and leading us back to Jesus. Amen.
