Endure As He Did

John Tilton

Scripture

Matthew 10:24-25

The student is not above the teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for students to be like their teachers, and servants like their masters. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebul, how much more the members of his household!

Observation

Jesus attempted to prepare His disciples for the challenging things they might face and endure by reminding them that they would not face situations more dire then He as their teacher and their master. Furthermore, it would their test and honor to endure trials and tribulations for the Kingdom call, but not anything more then what Jesus endured. Jesus was foretelling them that they would need to take up their cross for His namesake.

Application

I indeed realize the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross for me, and that I would never have to experience and endure what He has. However, recalling His sacrifice reminds me of the love that Jesus has given to me and because of that I can endure the minor trials and tribulations in comparison that I might be confronted with. In other words, I must approach challenging matters with more insight and understanding that will give me perseverance and heart to endure what I am called to endure.

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank you so much for your sacrifice, that gives me a true perspective of who you are, what you did and why I can be stronger and victorious because of your example.
