Recognizable Faith

Calvin Kochi

Scripture

13Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus. Acts 4:13

Observation

Peter and John we being scrutinized by the rulers, leaders and priest and were astonished by the wisdom and knowledge that these men had. How can these common men with no education say and do such amazing things. They recognized that Peter and John had spent the time with Jesus and gained much being with Him.

Application

It is amazing how they could recognize that Peter and John had spent so time with Jesus by the boldness and wisdom that they spoke with. I know that they did more than spend time with Jesus. It takes more that spending time with someone to gain that kind of wisdom and boldness. All they had three years together and you can learn a lot in three years, but not as much as they did in that short of a time. Even the fastest learners don’t gain that kind of wisdom that could minister to the thousands. Jesus gave them more that His temporary presence He promised to give them the Holy Spirit to teach and to guide us he even reveals the mysteries of the Kingdom. That is what we are reading now how important our relationship with Jesus is and the promise of the power of the Holy Spirit. I know that my relationship with Jesus and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide me will give me wisdom and the ability to be bold for Jesus. It will give me supernatural abilities.

Prayer

Thank you Lord for men like Peter and John who are example for me, and how their faithfulness affect my faith. They could only do what you asked them to do and they could only do it with the boldness that you gave them to do it to do it.
