Stop it Rod!

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture

The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands nor give up worshiping demons and idols of gold and silver and bronze and stone and wood, which cannot see or hear or walk, [21]nor did they repent of their murders or their sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts. Revelation 9:20-21

Observation

Seals were opened and trumpets blown. The hand of God’s judgment and mercy is being dealt to the kingdoms of this world. Although we‘ve yet to fully see and experience John’s prophetic vision, the vivid and horrifying images of God’s wrath is made clear. God’s justice will succeed in the end. While justice is being served, John also describes the Person and work of Jesus - the Lamb of God.

In this setting sits the gloomy and pitiful reality of unrepentant mankind, continuing in sin, not turning to the Living God!

Application

As I’m writing, I’m figuring out why I chose this Scripture? What stood out to me?
I feel like, after reading of who the Lamb of God is, God’s justice, judgments and mercy - that for mankind not to repent is scary!!!

Is this what I am like now? Knowing what I know about who God is in love, mercy, holiness, judgment - and I still don’t’ fully get it. I sin and go unrepentant for too long a period of time!! Not asking forgiveness right away when I offend my wife or kids. When I get mean, proud, angry and offensive - I out on an “I don’t give a rip” attitude. It’s like I cave in on holy spiritual conviction and yield full to my sinfulness!

Stop it Rod!

I need my wife to keep saying this, right to my face and heart boldly as she does - when I am sinning.

Prayer

Dear God -
Thank you so much for Your Holy Spirit and the wife you gave me!!!! Thank you! Help me to be and live with sensitivity to You, to the heart and spirit you gave to Beckie - and even my kids. Please help me to be repentant, live with a repentant heart.
