You're All I Need
Richard Waialeale2 Corinthians 12:7-10 (NIV)
7 To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me.
8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me.
9 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.
10 That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
I think God gives us these reminders, or so called “thorn in the flesh,” to humble us back into who we really are in Christ and where we came from. For Paul, if all those beatings he talked about earlier wasn’t enough (2 Cor. 11:23-29), it’s now this thorn in the flesh. For many of us today, whatever the situation may be or the circumstance surrounding us, I must see it as Paul did: God’s grace, His power, is all I really need - it is sufficient for me. When everything in this world falls apart, the only thing left standing is Jesus. God is still on the throne. Jesus is all I really need.
When Jesus is all that’s left, then Jesus is all I really need. Keep Him close to me for comfort, peace, wholeness and healing. Jesus is my provider and my all in all. I must form a habit of automatically running to Jesus when feeling persecuted, going through trials and tribulation. Or when I’m sick or feeling down - the first thing I do is reach out to You Jesus. How do I do that, by reading God’s Word and spending time with Jesus in prayer and petition.
Matt. 24:35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
Father I’ve read these Scriptures many times before but it has never affected me like today. I pray that You will form in me this habit of automatically turning towards You and seeking You with all my heart. Help me always seek You for all things. You are all I need, In Jesus Name I Pray. Amen.
