Final Account

Richard Waialeale

Scripture

Matthew 20:15-16 (NIV)

15 Don't I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?'

16 "So the last will be first, and the first will be last."

Observation

In this story, God is the landowner and He will give the final account for our lives. At the end of the day, only God’s decision matters. In God’s kingdom, money has no value, only our relationship with Jesus. What I make my main priority and most important here in this world will be all that matters when I get to Heaven.

Application

It’s my relationship with Jesus, here and now, that comes first and how I place Him in the center of all I do. God is shaping me down here so that I’ll fit up there. Discover now what matters most to God, and find true riches and receive God’s rewards. I may be envious of where I am on this earth amongst everyone else, but the fact of the matter is that I get to heaven with everyone else. That’s the best reward of all.

Prayer

Lord I pray to discover the things that matter to You most and that I not be concerned with the riches of this world, but be glad with my rewards in Your Kingdom. Amen.
