iPromise

Richard Waialeale

Scripture

Genesis 15:1 (NLT)

1 Some time later, the Lord spoke to Abram in a vision and said to him, “Do not be afraid, Abram, for I will protect you, and your reward will be great.”

Observation

A promise that you can hang on too, I call it iPromise.

God shows Himself in a vision and He calls and says, “I will...”, and when I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that what I heard and felt is of God. That’s a promise I must hang on to, it’s a life calling from God.

Abram knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that God was calling Him. So then seals this promise with a covenant and sacrifice to God, by splitting an animal in half and walking through it to say this is between You, God and I.

Application

There’s one thing that God says to Abram in this early stage of his call and that is he doesn’t have to be afraid, God will be with Abram to protect him. There are 365 “fear not,” in the Bible. That’s one fear not for everyday of the year. What God is saying to Abram, and I feel he is saying to every one of us who will follow His life call for our lives. That if I trust Him and allow Him to guide my steps He will always be with me. It’s not a walk in the park, there will be high’s and low’s, but the fact is, God is with me - He says, iPromise (I will). And that’s enough to carry me through.

Prayer

Lord I pray that I will follow You and answer the call for my life, not by my own strength but by Your power and might. Teach me through Your Word to seek You and stay close to You. It’s Your promise so help me to be guided by You in Jesus Name I Pray. Amen.
