Peace Out!

Carl Higashi

Scripture

2 John 1:1-3

The elder to the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in truth; and not only I, but also all who know the truth, for the sake of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever: Grace, mercy and peace will be with us, from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

Observation

Written by the apostle John, who was considered an elder, leader, and one who had authority. This was directed to a chosen lady (could be a church) and her children that he deeply cared for and loved in Christ. Although John is the writer, he includes other believers share in the same truth. This truth is in us (those who believe in Christ) and will be with us forever!

Here is the truth and for the sake of truth that John along with all the believers at that time want us to remember: Grace, mercy and peace will be with us, from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love…FOREVER!

Application

God reminds me as grace, mercy and peace is always with me, I should always be able to extend them to others at all times, as long as I am abiding in the Lord.

His grace is what we receive that we do not deserve while mercy is what we do not get that we do deserve. So as His Holy Spirit is in me, I have the ability to give what others do not deserve and withhold consequence that others may deserve. Through this the peace of God should be present as it is a fruit of the Spirit.

I need to extend grace and mercy, while never withholding the truth and love of God. Peace is then automatic!

Prayer

Lord, come fill me with your Holy Spirit! I need You to increase my capacity to extend your grace, mercy, truth and love to others. As I am filled, may I in turn be emptied out fully for your glory and that others be saved and discipled.

In Jesus name I pray, amen!

Love You Lord! Peace out!
