Metamorphosis
Richard Waialeale1 Corinthians 9:19-23 (NIV)
19 Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible.
20 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law.
21 To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God's law but am under Christ's law), so as to win those not having the law.
22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some.
23 I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.
My Christian identity in Christ is not rooted in pleasing others or sacrificing what I believe in and my love for Jesus. There are certain things in life that makes me who I am, for instance. I love sports, I was born and raised in Hawaii (in town), every morning I exercise at Fit Body Boot Camp. These are just a few examples of the things I do and who I am that gives me an opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus.
I must remember never to modify the clear teaching of God’s Word but to live it out in front of the people I’m trying to reach. Stay true to my love for Jesus and don’t be afraid or embarrassed to show my first love. I am what the Word of God says I am.
Lord Jesus thank you for making me who I am and the opportunities to reach the lost. In New Hope’s Bible Creed I pray: This is my Bible the Word of God, and I boldly declare, this is the highest law in the land. I am what it says I am. I have what it says I have. I do what it says I do. I am a Citizen of Heaven.
