We Get What We Ask For

Marsha Kochi

Scripture

1 Samuel 8:
22 The Lord said to Samuel, “Listen to their voice and appoint them a king.” So Samuel said to the men of Israel, “Go every man to his city.

Observation

The people would not listen to Samuel's warnings, and though God is Israel's King, they wanted a human King to rule over them. So God tells Samuel, to give them what they ask for.

Application

This is a reminder for me to never compromise my faith or conform to the world's way of dealing with things. God is King, and who knows better what I need, but God. Sometimes, He gives me what I want, and it turns out bad. I don't think I will ever stop worrying about my children, or to be concerned with some of their decisions. I know that He knows and loves them more than I can imagine, yet I seem to ask Him at times, to do it my way. I look back at what I would have wanted Him to do, and I can see disaster. He protects me, and gives me the peace I need to let go, and allow Him to be God.

Prayer

Thank You Lord for not allowing me to have my own way. The best prayers that I have offered to You, puts You in charge. Thank you for always checking my heart, and bringing corrections to the way I think.
