Living in love with Jesus!

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. 17 And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever. 18Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. Therefore we know that it is the last hour. 1 John 2:15-18

Observation

Love? Is it the quality of my heart that arouses attraction? To what I live for? For what I give myself to?

John’s warning and instruction in these verses are serious. Sometimes I immediately apply them to “my internal struggles with sin” like my love for things, my pride and worldliness. But there is a far deeper context to the urgency of this call to live in love with God. Not just to live for Him - but to live in love with Him!

Application

Happy Birthday Jesus!

The gift I really - really - really want to give you is my hearts love and devotion. To be in love - to live in love with You and for You! I desire to heed the warnings to love my Father God always and more than I love myself or the world. My pride is a direct result of sin - the sin of loving and living for me… and me only!

Prayer

Thank you for accepting my gift of repentance and love Lord Jesus! I feel like I can’t even give You anything worth anything. All I give comes from You! I can’t repent, love, live for You… apart from You. Today - thanks for choosing me, and for the gift I have to choose You.
