Holy Living by the Holy Spirit

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture

I will make my dwelling among you, and my soul shall not abhor you. [12]And I will walk among you and will be your God, and you shall be my people. Leviticus 26:11-12

Observation

The promises of God are definite and securing. But there are conditions to receiving the blessings and promises of God. Sandwiched between the blessings of obedience and consequences of disobedience is v 11-12. The God of the old covenant and law is stern, firm and fierce. The character of His holiness is something I feel Christians need to be taught more on and challenged to live towards. I realize that legalism and the works of what holiness “looks or lives like” can become an issue. But there has to be a balanced Biblical approach to living a holy life in respect and fear of our Living God.

Application

I really want to be and live differently. It will start in my heart - in the deepest part of my character and inner man. Where only God sees the EVERYTHING that lives in me. The holy and unholy. I desire to be genuine, sincere in heart with God. The Holy Spirit live sin me, and there lies my answer to intimacy and living a holy life.

Likewise, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God. [5] For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death. [6] But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code. Romans 7:4-6

Prayer

Dear Spirit of God!
Thank you for the deep reminder that I am no longer alive to my flesh - though the flesh is alive, yet it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. I am released from the law of sin and death. Today, I serve and live in a new way according to Your Holy Spirit! Help me to choose the thoughts, motives, and ways of Holiness according to the new way - in Jesus! I love You Spirit of God! I need You! I thank You!
