Walk & Talk With Me Lord

John Tilton

Scripture

Exodus 33:12-17

Moses said to the Lord, “You have been telling me, ‘Lead these people,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said, ‘I know you by name and you have found favor with me.’ If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.” The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?” And the Lord said to Moses, “I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.”

Observation

I love Moses’ thinking of wanting to be sure that God would go with him and teach him. Moses’ asks the right questions in ascertaining that he hadn’t heard from the Lord in terms of the right time. Moses also sought to find favor from the Lord. Furthermore, Moses wanted people to know that God was pleased with him and that he was in God’s will.

What I love and admire is that Moses wanted God to be with him, to be in God’s favor, to be taught by God and for it to be known that God was with him. He also wanted it to be in God’s timing. More so, God replied that all would be granted because God was pleased with him and knew Moses by name. Why? Moses was putting God first.

Application

That sums up all that I could ask for in terms of walking with the Lord and serving Him … that I would please the Lord in obedience so that He would be pleased with me and know be name. Pursuant to God finding pleasure in me that He would then walk with me teach me and show me His favor. I want all that I do to be in God’s way and time … and not my own. I know that this all begins with my time with the Lord in His word and prayer. That would be putting the Lord first and drawing close to Him, which is what I believe He asks that we would be blessed with His favor, presence and impartation.

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank you for prompting me and reminding me how important it is that I draw close to you through your word and my prayer time with you. I realized that I will get back what I put into my relationship with you, since you have been and are always there. I just need to reach out and you so faithfully reciprocate.
